First Aid Paediatric Courses
The Paediatric First Aid course complies with the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage document for children aged from birth to five and is designed to meet the requirements of OFSTED and Surestart for registered child minders.
It is a highly practical and fun course which meets the criteria defined for first aid training in the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework meets Ofsted first aid requirements for registered childminders and the requirements for first aid for nannies under the Department for Children, Schools and Families Approved Carers Scheme.
Can be used as evidence for employees working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education.
Course Content
A systematic approach to incident management
Infant, Child and Adult Resuscitation procedures
Choking
Bleeding - internal/external, major/minor
Shock - hypovolemic and anaphylactic
Hypothermia and hyperthermia
Febrile convulsions
Treating Damage - suspected fractures, head, neck and back injuries
Eye injuries and foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses
Bites and stings
Poisoning
Burns and scalds
Electric shock
Common illness - epilepsy, asthma, sickle cell anaemia, diabetes
The National Childminding Association states that \\\"All childminders in England and Wales must hold a valid paediatric first-aid certificate when they register. In England, the first-aid course must be recognised by Ofsted and the childminder\\\'s local authority. The first-aid certificate should be updated on a regular basis - every three years or so, in accordance with the issuing body.\\\"
Certificates are valid for 3 years. There are no pre-requisites to attend this course.
